How to Speed Up Your Broadband Connection in Windows XP

      Click the "Start" button and then select "Run."

      Once Run opens, type "GPedit.msc" in the box and press "Enter." This action will open another window titled "Group Policy."

      Click the plus sign beside the "Administrative Templates" folder, located under "Computer Configurations," to expand it. Once expanded, click the plus sign beside the "Network" folder to expand it as well.

      Click on folder labeled "QoS Packet Scheduler" to highlight it. This will bring up certain items in the right side of the window. Double click the item that says "Limit Reservable Bandwidth."

      This will bring up a window titled "Limit Reservable Bandwidth Properties." Check the "Enabled" box, and then change the "Bandwidth Limit %" to show zero.

      Select "OK" to save changes, and then exit all windows and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
